Delays from strikes, local political disturbances or any
other cause resulting in :-

Failure of sub-Contractors to manufacture materials.
Failure of transport to port of shipment.
Non shipment.
Hindrances to operations in Hong Kong.
or risks of

Mishap to any shipment of materials.
Storms in Hong Kong.
Damage to or loss of materials after assembly and before final deposition in trench.
Accident to floating plant employed or permanent materials used in connection with the operations.
Unforeseen difficulties in connection with dredging, diving and all underwater operations.
Any of the foregoing might most seriously add to our
expenditure and we have therefore had to make reasonable provision
to cover this contingency.
Regarding our notification that we wish to dicuss certain
clauses in the proposed contract documents, these clauses are
enumerated below with a brief note of our objection to them.

Note.
We can accept responsibility for errors or omissions in the schedule of prices but not in the specification or drawings.
If the operations referred to are required we shall expect to be paid for same.
We ask that the meaning of the phrase" any matter or thing in anywise connected with this Contract" shall be qualified.
We understand that the interpretation of these clauses is such that C1.84. p.15. is inoperative since the decision of the Engineer and/ or Director and/or Inspector is final and binding in everything.
We are willing to accept this clause ending at "the contract", but cannot agree that the rates shall not be subject to revision under any conditions.
We cannot undertake to say that our sub-Contractors will accept this clause.
